Rims on my Slave Ship
"An exhibition designed to evoke two types of thought. One interpretation is a commentary on modern slavery in African-American culture, which may consist of, but is not limited to Hip-Hop, 'Bling' obsession, stereotypes, political portrayal, the use of the "Race Card" and more. Or it can be interpreted as a 'silver lining' African-American success story. Although the slave ship was seen as a vehicle of negativity and opression, it's cargo was considered very precious. Rims on my Slave Ship is more than artistic elegance; we are the cargo, we are the evidence." Two screen-printed versions were created to represent both interpretations.
